Sweet and succulent, this handmade tea offers lush floral notes tempered with herbal tones.
Malawi's tea industry got its start in 1907 when the country's government began granting land to farmers. Tea plantations then sprang up on the slopes of Thyolo Mountain north of Blantyre in the south of the country. Growers have found the mountain's climate and high elevation perfect for growing very hardy, pesticide-free bushes. This is still true today. The insects and pests that typically attack tea cannot survive above 3,000 feet.
Handmade Zomba pearls are a captivating example of the quality of production in this area. Named after the ancient capital of Malawi, Zomba, this artisan tea offers lush floral notes tempered by herbal tones with a round sweetness and a crisp finish. Along with their wonderful flavor, one of the great benefits of Malawian green teas is that they won't turn bitter. This makes it a great choice for converting new green tea drinkers!
